Jeff Gordon on the pole at Texas !

Post  Rick#3 on Fri Nov 06, 2009 5:04 pm

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Jeff Gordon won his first NASCAR pole of the season with a qualifying lap of 191.117 mph (307.56 kph) on Friday for the Dickies 500.

It was at the same track where he earned his only victory of the season in April.

It's the 68th career pole for the four-time series champion, who is third in the standings this season.

Points leader Jimmie Johnson, who is going for his unprecedented fourth consecutive series title, qualified 12th.

Mark Martin, who is second 184 points behind, starts seventh on Sunday.

The Rodney Dangerfield of Cup racing starts 2nd.

They talked to everbody but him last week after taking a car that was about to be lapped on the start and almost winning with it.
